What does "paraclete" mean?
"Paraclete" is the Greek word used by Jesus to describe the Holy Spirit who comes alongside (para)
Christians to help them. The word is variously translated as "helper," "comforter," "intercessor," or
"advocate."
Paraclete Ministries exists to promote people-helping among members of the Body of
Christ and to equip Christians for effective ministry to the Church and World. Training, education,
consultation, and counseling are provided for these purposes.
Who can benefit from Paraclete Ministries' products and services?
Professional ministers, counselors, educators, and trainers
Church lay leaders, including ministry or group leaders, lay pastors, and leader's spouses
Church participants at a grassroots level who are capable of adult learning
Why are Paraclete Ministries' products and services important?
Jesus commissioned His followers to go everywhere on earth to make disciples for Him.  In the
underworld of crime a "made man" is someone considered properly trained to be successful in
criminal activity. That is, the person is viewed as faithful and competent to achieve mob objectives,
to protect "family" interests, and to promote the growth of the criminal organization.   Should
anything less be expected of the disciples of Jesus Christ? It was Jesus' desire that the Church
represent Him on earth until He returns in glory. In His absence Christians are to
make disciples, not
merely create church-goers. Believers should tell non-believers about the good news of Jesus, but
Christians must also be nurtured in their spiritual growth until they become faithful and competent
disciples of Jesus, consistently living and ministering in His name. This is very difficult, especially in
a troubled and hurting world that is increasingly cynical and critical of the Christian world-view.
Large numbers of people need significant help. They need love and truth, models and hope, healing
and health, meaning and purpose. Pastors and professional counselors can only begin to meet such
massive, widespread needs. Every capable Christian needs to be sufficiently equipped to minister to
others in their daily lives through therapeutic listening and wise conversation. Church and ministry
leaders need additional training to improve their effectiveness as people-helpers.
Paraclete Ministries
exists to promote and provide such equipping products and services. A healthy, caring Church is a
dynamic Church that not only makes disciples, but makes a difference in the world.
